Tick or Treat!? As we enter this spooky month of candy and goblins the timing is perfect to learn more about this blood sucking pest.

1. Ticks are not insects; they are arachnids. So they are more closely related to spiders than they are to common insects.

2. Tick are more likely to infest your dog than your cat.

3. They secrete a glue like substance called cementum which helps them stick to their host.

4. Hungry? A tick can survive 200 days without food.

5. Ticks are known for transmitting all types of diseases, but only the deer tick can transfer lyme disease.
