    Pest of the Month:
    Bed Bugs

Our next Pest of the Month has a lot in common with Santa Claus; they both see you when you’re sleeping and they know when you’re awake. It’s the bed bug and they are becoming more and more of an issue since the banning of DDT and with an increase in people traveling. Here are 5 fact about the bedtime riddle you never knew actually existed.

    1. Don’t underestimate their sneakiness. Bed bugs know how to be elusive.  We have found them hiding in the smallest cracks and crevices, behind picture frames, behind electrical switch plates, and even behind wallpaper.

    2. Did something bite me? Well if a BB did bite you, you wouldn’t feel it. They are experts at anesthesiology, and the answers in their saliva. It has elements that act as an anesthetic and also increases blood flow to the bite which makes feeding quick and painless.

    3. BBs are very resilient surviving some of the most extreme conditions. Hot or cold, it doesn’t matter to them.

    4. Fossilized bed bugs have been found at Egyptian dig sites dating over 3500 years old.

    5. Bed bugs don’t spread disease. Theres the good news you were looking for! Even HIV decomposes in a bedbug’s digestive system in under an hour.
